Their forefathers spilled blood on American Soil I agree but what did they get in return?

Their unemployment rate is higher than anybody else higher than Asians, Hispanics and whites. They have accumulated less wealth than any other race. Their dropout rate is higher than anybody else. Their incarceration rate is higher than anyone else.

The whole country was built on the backs of blacks and today Somali refugees like Basra that contributed absolutely nothing out perform them.
So you are blaming african americans for the battles that they had to endure over the centuries in the US? You cannot compare african americans to any of those other groups and be fair about wealth accumulation, incarceration etc. Do you know much about the history of the US? If you did then you wouldn't just leave those statements out there without context.

If you want to compare a black people to the hispanics and the asians you have to compare my caribbean people or even other black africans...other immigrants. Immigrants have a completely different mentality than african americans...and its very easy to understand why.

why don't you all compare somalis in america to the hispanics and the asians...willing immigrant to willing immigrant...that's a fairer comparison?

I am not african american but i see their story as a story of survival and perseverance in the face of monumental odds.

btw...Basra does not outperform anyone. I don't care what her station in life is. The manure that she spits suggest that she dwells in a reservoir of filth and really belongs in a straight jacket.

I didn't blame African Americans. I was agreeing with you that African Americans made great contribution to America and they have nothing to show for it except for misery. So bragging about their contribution is a moot point.

You're the one that compared Somalis to African American saying African American contributed more to America than any Somali did or ever well. But when I do it's unfair  Speaking of contributions Somalis been in America for about 25 years and African Americans had a bit of head start of 400 years you're right again, context does matter.

You can compare Somalis to any other group you want. If you say group A is outperforming Somalis i'm not going to get defensive or make excuses for their shortcomings. Facts are facts.

And yes the legacy of Slavery and Jim Crow is a factor in their social standing. There is also other factors like lack of personal responsibility inept black leaders and people like you that keep telling them they are victims and keep making excuses for them. Yes this is unjust, unfair world and telling them they are victims is not going to improve their lives.

I don't think Basra needs a straitjacket..what she does is satire entertaining and funny. You're just looking to be offended.

They had a headstart of 400 years? Are you kidding me? For almost 350 of those years attempts were made to physically and psychologicall dismantle them. The battles they have been fighting stretched for all of those years...and clearly there has been some success in the dismantling of the psyche of many of their families. This is what i'm talking about when i say that you cannot site statistics in a vacuum. There is history behind those stats. There is stories abound where African Americas were making huge strides especially after emancipation only to have them put back into their place by marauding hoardes...by hangings by burning their businesses and homes....by violent upheaval of their communitites. The stories are all there.

Yes there are issues that plague the AA communities that they and only they can fix but when one talks about these things you always have to put them in a context of the physical and mental violence that they have had to endure in america for centuries. And still they survive....but not only do they survive but i see them as the only group who are willing to publicly take the man to task and speak out loudly when racism is still found in american institutions. Your people and my people come in after the hard work is done and reap the benefits. Not saying that our people don't work hard....but at least we start from a more level playing field.

Its unfair to compare them to new arrivals because they have been fighting for their dignity for 400 years and clearly its taken a toll on them. You cannot see that? That is why when you read their history and find great inventors and courageous military heroes and massive cultural achievements...to me its a glorious story overall.

I'm offended whenever offensive things are said...about any group.

I tend to speak up when i see broad brush generalizations of any group....bit of a pet peeve of mine....this forum seems to be fertile ground for that.

Before this information age you would have been able to sit in your home and talk this way without anyone objecting....and you can still do that....but when you do it on the net where the world is invited to see your thoughts...then you should expect blow-back.
