One weird thing that I found in Western society is, as the young woman hits 18 or a bit older, they want her to go to another city, life by herself or share a house with others. They call it learning how to deal with people, experiencing the world, and sharing life with others.

In our (Muslim) prospective, we want our daughters to be with us until they can have a family of their own. Our intention is they stay safe, don't become prey to predators (men), and be closer to their mothers or aunts. It also provides self check to the ladies.

I know some women here would differ, but I think it provides Muslim families more deterrence and oversight -even though it doesn't prevent every vice - on the life of their daughters.

So true. And let's not forget you have prostitutes from all backgrounds including Somalis. It's the oldest profession. Personally, I have empathy towards them and I don't call them words like dirty because the way I see it, a 'normal' person wouldn't sell their body so they clearly have issues. Most people are probably going to disagree with me but that's fine.

We already have free contraception in the UK and women who haven't undergone FGM. :/
