I think this is more important than all the things you mentioned above....not saying anything in the face of such comments directed basically at our religion...since Muhhamed is seen as the father of our religion by the west means that tomorrow if not tonight they will start doing the same with Allah SWT. Cawar...yeah man. It was an arab article (in the khaleej times maybe). It went as far as to say Muslim grocers can and should stop selling newspapers that do such things. It pointed chicago as an example where lots of muslims own grocery stores and u know newspapers get msot of their $$ from selling to grocers and stores.

Focus is what it means to me. Islamdom is a club and I believe it is esentailly an Asaitc club. Not surprsing really since 80% of muslims are Asian. There is without any doubt Somali isku colleyn going on here. My cajhllenge simplistic as it sounds is telling: you are acknowledged by club members only if you are a member.

By being completely ignored no matter how much you shout and scraem, the club members are telling you this: You are not one of us. You do not count.

An africa focus would have been Somalis demonstrating against barbarity in the Congo or the Britsih bullying of zimbabwe. Galol, you must differentiate between acts of bigotry, hatred, nepotism, dislike of others emanating from or based upon some people's ignorance whoever they may be, and an important universal message from the universal God who doesn't prefer specific race or ethnicity over others. A muslim who is not an Arab will not abandon islam because islam's language of instruction is Arabic and the prophet was Arabic. One looks at God's independence in choosing his own prophets from whomever he wished as was the tradition and obidiently accepts the choice without question. If islam was ethnocentric, Europeans of Calibre like Johan Wolfgang aka Goethe wouldn't have accepted it, neither would napoleon be impressed with it and wished to lead an army that followed the Quran. Islam appeals to any open minded person irrespective of their background. More importantly, there is no where in the Quran where it says Arabs better than other human beings but on the contrary, such eventuality was buried beneath the earth by a clear cut message that there is no difference between an Arab and Nonarab.

Gods exist in the minds of those who believe in them and I find it extremely implausible someone with your intelligence to be a Literalist.

If you are then youra rgument stands on its merits since you believe in the overall "universal" message of the Alien God and the messengers or his culture are not issues. But if you are no literalist as I suspect then surely it is irrational and impossible to dissocaite faith systems from the cultures and societies from which they emerged and for his benefits or control they were introduced.

Ironically there is nothing universal in literalist Belief either since there is nothing universal about it: Literalism is inherently tribal - muslim against Huindu,; Christain against Jew. Whichever Literalist path you take you are still joining a club, an inclusive club and hence not universalist.

Smarmy in your case means slinkily, slitheringly reptillian, dishonest, false, fake, diplomatic, always willing to please the majority, not saying what he really thinks. Uber clever; with cheshire cat smile; untrustwrothy; scheming, untruthful. In other words one who possess all the right skills to make a very good Politician!
