Why couldnÂ’t I say my RACE is SOMALI but my nationality is Kenyan or Djiboutian?

Because Somalis who live in all these neighboring countries are there by force, the land was stolen from Somalia during colonialism, thus they are Somalis who settle in those countries, not Kenyans or Ethiopians. Rather, they are Somalis who live in those regions.

BTW, dugsi is known as madrasah by people from the south. School is known as Iskool, you learn something new everyday I guess.

I only managed to go to school for two years in Somalia before the war broke out. I used to go to a private Egyptian school. The best time at school was break time and home time. I used to hate the idea of going to school and used to come up with all sorts of ridiculous excuses. I started dugsi a year after I started school and I didnÂ’t like it much either but thank God we got a better teacher right before the war broke out. Smile

Dugsiyada aqwaanka produced sissy kids who were easy prey for kids who went to REAL dugsi... Laughing

I really miss those good old days, Baar Aaran had the meanest cheese burgers in town, I can almost taste them.

Lady-Lux,

I think you will fall in love with Somalia Mogadishu included. And now Mogadishu is more peaceful than it has ever been since 1990. I got a lot of relatives down there & from what I hear people enjoy a lot of the nick-nacks we have been accustomed to in the West e.g. Mogadishu has 4 TV channels, a bunch of phone companies, cell phone companies, DSL connection, movie rentals, game rentals, ice cream parlors, etc.

One time in dugsi macalinka went on a Siyaaro to Biyooleey & left us in charge with a twisted kabiir who used to beat the living daylights out of us. So, I developed a scheme of wearing 2-3 sweaters to dugsi to reduce the impact of the whipping, I almost fainted from heat exhaustion... Laughing

Life was good until that sunday they set off a bomb near Hotel Daameey in December 1990.
