I've gotten into confrontations with Arabs who claim that, "Somalis are dark-skinned Arabs". I've gotten into confrontations with Arabs especially when I was a hot-headed teenager, and I make no apologies that I'm a proud Somali. It's not hate. It's self-love. I love myself and my people. And I despise it when I hear Arabs claim that we're one of them. The same way I despise when West Africans or Southern Africans claiming that we are the same as them, that we fall under the same umbrella. Wallahi there are very real differences between Somalis and Zambians. Somalis and Liberians. We aren't the same as them genetically. We don't have a similar history. We don't have a similar culture. We don't even have a similar language.
So if a Somali rightfully gets enraged at an Arab misappropriating his heritage, why can't the Somali also be enraged at West Africans for doing the exact same thing?

What's with the double standards? Why can't you just say you're a Horn African Somali and leave it at that?
There is no reason to get offended and respond with anger and vitroi. It makes you look petty. And also makes it look like your scared of something.
Wallahi I would punch an Arab square in the face if he tries to erase my Somaalinimo.
And I get just as enraged at a West African or some AA claiming that Somalis are "one of them"
I'm not a hypocrite. I stay consistent. It's nothing personal against these people, I just don't want them misappropriating my Somali identity. Just leave us alone and let Somalis be Somalis. Let Horn-Africans be Horn-Africans.
We should be satisfied with who we are. The Horn of Africa has always been a distinct/unique part of the African continent, with a very different history and culture when compared to Central Africa, West Africa, or southeast Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, etc.) We can be friends with these Bantus. We can trade with them and form economic ties with them. But we aren't the same as them and we should be conscious of who we are.
