engagement is only a means of the man letting the woman know he is interested in her, and wishes to marry her. They're not lawful to each other, because the engagement happens before the marriage contract takes place.
Wallahi I have never heard of such thing and now you got me curious. So if a couple are engaged, they are not allowed to be together unless they have a marriage contract? And what exactly is a marriage contract and how does it different from engagement? I have on more than once attended engagement(nikaax) ceremonies of family members and after that event was over, the man and the woman were husband and wife. I read the link but I did not get a clear answer from it.

Such a DIMWIT! kkk I bet you would not have been speaking to me like that if you were in Africa! It is to be blamed Europ which compared nomad to urbans. I can easily distinguish from your ignorance how far you are in education. You came from BAADIYE took extensive English course and you are practising right here. Kkk Look back your writtings they are much oversimplified to be understandable. Iam not here to look for a somebody but to admonish girls like you who eagerly want to bed anybody with slight engagement. Kkk If suppose I was about to look for some one I would have encountered such nitwit person like you!!
Donot tell me Iam nice and married and blah blah!
Moreover I swear to Allah Iam married and have 4 kids Alhamdulilaah what shall I gain from you courting here nothing but idling! I need to teach you to behave because Reer Baadiye baad tahay who donot utilize internet for its goodness. Go and help mom in the KITCHEN.
I wish you good luck!

im not saying im helping im just going with nature, a lion needs his pride
Islam allowed this and God knows best, just like God prohibited Alcohol which was later scientifically proved to not only put one under the influence but it also destroys the Kidney.
Pork and many other things are also now understood to be unhealthy for the human being
now it takes one to only look at Western countries, or unislamic countries to realise the population of prostitutes, and the most recent human trafficking taking place in large scale around Europe.
now have you heard about the story of the prophet who did things that seemed wrong but then proved to be a blessing?? one of these things were he slightly ruined the ships of poor citizens, later pirates came to the port and stole everything but those ships as they seemed unworthy and the poor citizens did not lose their ships and could easily repair them.
Dont question God, but remember this is optional and does come with high requirements for the man who want to peruse.

Okay, I see where the misunderstanding is coming from now. I'll try to explain it again, so bear with me ..lol
Nikaah = Wedding - it's the actual wedding ceremony in Islam.
Aqd = Marriage contract - which takes place at the Nikaah.
Engagement = Promise of marriage.
Now, the engagement takes place before both of these (Nikaah & Aqd). So the engagement is just a promise of marriage. Neither is entitled to any rights, as they would have been if they were husband and wife. During the engagement they should act as they would with any Non-Mahram, so they shouldn't be alone together etc...
I think you've attended a Nikaah (the actual wedding ceremony) you didn't attend an engagement, because if it was an engagement they wouldn't be husband and wife at the end of the event. So at the Nikaah the marriage contract must have been drawn & the bride was given her Mahr because there's no other way they can be declared husband and wife at the end of it.
So if there's no marriage contract, then, according to Shariah, that marriage has not been fulfilled.
Do you understand now?

Ur still taunting me cause of my opinion, well u aint gonna change my mind with ur fake wadanmo. U should be worrying about ur own daughters, stop criticizing other girls , u don't know what ur daughters will bring u tommorrow. Don't invest too much time on writing blah blah, ur wife needs ur f-king attantion sucker: go screw her and help her with cooking. Kkkk Again your abysmal brain teaches you to insult a man who could be like your uncle. It is great misfortune to see such girl like you talking about ASS and f-king in public. You are imitating like Westerns I know. Count your mistakes. 1- you encourage others that it is normal to bed your friend before marriage. (that is what white people do and you seem to be proudful to adopt) 2- You use abusive words (you are trying to show off that you can defend yourself by offending others with sarcasm while you are forgetting the respect). 3- You disclose yourself how bad you are in Islam religion. ( go and learn more about you Allah than keeping yourself bussy on internet)
Walaahi I counted more than 7 mistakes in your wrinttings. I am so disappointed in you how you write English. I swear I am perplexed why you donot learn how to write English in gods name! Shame on you! SHAME ON YOU!
You are dying for sex! or let me say you have sexual frustration Look how badly you overused sex words. You are absent-minded! Moan on the pillows it is very hard to get a boy I know!! Kkkk Hearing this will shudder you and remind you the truthfulness.
I all wanted nothing from you but to SHINE on all aspects of your behaviour not to be EMULATED. NO WONDER YOU HAVE A LIBERAL DAD BECAUSE WE SAW YOU!
I wish you good luck!

Kkk, you just woke up from the chair. Where have you been roaming around? Kkkk You make me laugh each time I encounter your tinny comments.
1- It is not necessary to control your English but I dislike to view your grammatical errors (spelling error is not so essential)
2- I told you if you are the last woman remained on earth I will not touch you. I donot talk to shameless missy. You are mistaking in me.
3- I didnot learn English in UK but I learned in Somalia I was studying at Sidam.
4- You exactly know who is frustrated. Talking ASS and f-king is not my habits and not suitable to my age. Wixi uudhka ku jiraa baa afka soo xadaa.
you are ignorant and ugly person that is why you are hidding behind Somalinet. None has intrest in you unlees unlawful sex so good luck untill you get old
Ayeyo.
Naagaha adigoo kale ah goor hore bey guudhsadeen waxa guudhka kuu diidey weeyaan sifaha aad ku guda jidho. Walaale barkimaha ku ooy arki meysid nin ku geeya Jumeykaan baa hoygaaga ah! Kkkk
I wish you good luck!

That is all I wanted to know. All this time, I thought you were talking about something else (like temporary shiica marriages) and not just a promise of marriage. What is the Somali name of this promise of marriage? Who do you make this promise of marriage to? The girl or her family and what are the events where this takes place called in Somali? What are the necessary steps to take to get out of a promise of marriage if you change your mind? In Somalia, gabadha iyagoon la guursan ayaa nimanka soo doono la siiyaa and the men get married to the girl when they are ready and are financially able to establish a family.
ps. Someone once told me, I doubt it is true, that you can demand to see the person you want to marry naked and it is allowed in Islam.
