Voltage, thanks for the compliment bro but I'm afraid I'm undeserving of it. I wouldn't consider myself among those who are "religious", per se, cuz only Allah SWT Knows how short I fall in terms of religiosity. Nevertheless, I'm a proud Muslim and there are certain things that tug at my heartstrings, this being one of them. Knowing him personally compounds the grief, but I'm just as upset by losing a pillar of our community.

Nobleman and Cinque, saxiibyaal I can't say enough about the late Sheikh AUN and the invaluable lessons he's left for the younger generation...not only for the next life, but for this life as well. As a child growing up in Somalia, he once heard someone mention the letters "P" "H" "D", and was intrigued by them as he noticed that they garnered acclaim. So one day, he asked someone what a PHD was and they told him it was the highest degree of academic knowledge one could aspire to. That day, the Sheikh made up his mind that he would achieve it. In addition to holding a Masters degree in Shariah from Ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, Dr. Sheikh Muhammad Rashaad obtained a PhD in Bioethics of Islam from McGill University in Montreal earlier this year, and wrote his thesis on organ death and the ethical evaluation of brain death. He left this earth with the distinct honour of being a scholar in Islam, as well as a scholar in academia. His work ethic was remarkable, considering he was not a native English-speaker, and served in the dual-roles of Imaam and owner/founder of the largest Masjid in the capital city of Canada, no less while raising 14 children. MaashaAllah and May Allah SWT Reward him in full.

Yungfresh..did you read his thesis paper? I would love to read it, it seems like a very intriguing topic. Wallahi, when the more I know of him through your readings, the more to Allah I become a good man like him. Manshallah bro, intaane ajar aye ku tahay.

Allahu Naxariisto Sh. M. Rashaad. He was blessed to have died at the Hajj. Those who are destined for good usually meet a good end. I had the pleasure of meeting him once many years ago when he came to speak at a fundraising for our Masjid. May Allah bless him for all his good deeds and grant him entrance in to Jannah, amiin. Its unfortunate all the talented 'uluma are dying with very few left to replace them.
