Twisted & AW,
If these rebel groups had a noble cause, why didn't they succeed in establishing a productive government?
Order does not come from disorder, its not feasible.
For anyone who's interested in finding out which direction Somalia was headed in 1990, watch this video:
We practically made it!

Walahi its not like they him out to be.
They can accuse him of many things, but at least he was a competent leader and Somalia was still a functioning state.

Only someone who understands what we've lost can appreciate Somalia.

Even as a staunch critic of his regime, I would be able to say that personally he was a patriot and a decent human being. But his regime was not. The men and women who used his position to further clan agenda certainly were. His regime was Africa's most brutal regime that went to great lengths committing atrocities against its own people. MSB was a victim of his clan and in the end they abandoned him to run to Gedo while they escaped to Kenya. He died a lonely man and is a text book example why clan politics almost never works. His clan drove him to an evil position using the power of the government to play nomadic clan politics, one time bombing Hargaisa to the ground, and other times massacring the people of Mudug and poisoning their wells.Koronto77 wrote:Walahi its not like they him out to be.

He honestly deserves our sympathy and forgiveness

MJ's helped Siad Barre (AUN), so do not act like his clan left his astray. The only mistake he ever did was not shoot Aidid right between the eyes.

Hawiye should just park their dameer, shut their piehole once and for all and say "Sorry Somalis, we fukked up" and ask for guidance from the Dooro then go back to what they are good at doing, Eat their maankaal and cambuulo and do their menial jobs.

Mission 1 accomplished. Next he will admit hawiye are inherently bad people and USC is to blame for all the bad things that hapened to us. then he will follow it with campaigning for darood to be given back the leadership since they are the only ones that can lead. I have more faith in this TL than than bastar abdiwahad. Preach on brothers and sisters
Re: Reflecting on December 26th, 1990!
Twisted,
I agree with you that Somalia could've done better and we deserved a better government. My argument here is, sometimes its better the devil you know than the one you don't know. MSB was one individual, his administration consisted of numerous individuals who used it for their own personal agendas & to score personal vendettas. Its very simplistic to pin all of the mayhem on a man who was well in to his 70s.
Not to mention that we at least had a government. I was 12 years old in 1990 and remember what it was like to grow up in a peaceful Somalia, go to a free school, go to isbitaal Digfeer for medical treatment free of charge, go to Baraawe for vacations, go to a soccer match at Stadium Muqdisho, listen to Radio Muqdisho in our car, etc.
All of it was lost for the greed of a few individuals.

Koronto,
When the Ogaden officers refused to aid the massacre of innocent Sacad civilians in Mudug in using the SNA for clan warfares, a well-known Sacad colonel was one of the top commanders of the Afweyne forces that burned J/hoose and massacred so many innocent civilians. When the criminal Caydiid came to Shilaabo to organize USC, his very first supperters were Absame. That is why it is important for you to come back to Absame agenda first, then worry about Somalia.
AW,
You can still remain on the reign of Hawiye but you can sometimes bit truthful
I know you have to do what you have to do to keep that but little bit of common sense can go a long way.
