To be honest supporting somaliland or being against it, doesnt really matter. The mentality of reer somaliland has changed beyond point of reunion. What I mean by this is you have a generation of people, who actually believe that somaliland is an independant country and are even bemused by talks of whole somalia (even though this is the actual reality).

Really hit home when i went to Hargeisa recently.

I know what you mean, there's now a generation of adults from Somaliland (those born in '91 and after) who have never known what it meant to be "fully" from Somalia (whether they're pro or anti-secession, that entire concept only really surfaced after Somaliland declared independence in May '91 and that whole discussion wasn't being discussed before then). Then again, as they say "time heals all wounds"...I personally don't consider it realistic for Isaaqs to want to reunify with the same people who's fathers/uncles/cousins killed their fathers/uncles/cousins, and understandably so. Maybe after the folks who the Waqooyi military campaign had a direct impact on are no longer involved, the youth will decide otheriwse.

To be honest its actually drilled into their heads that reunion is the biggest mistake. Case of fool me once, but def not twice. Only realistic chance of reunion is if Somali becomes an Islamic state, proper islamic, not no shady interpretation of their desires and then the youth in somaliland will be attracted to this.

none has the right to give away any part of land that belongs to islam. i really don't care for the people - slanders, as they call themselves - that much. as far as i'm concerned, they can go to hell if they want. but the land - thats a different story altogether. the land belongs to islam and its people, those who establish and faithfully adhere to its way of life. its that simple. if slanders want to establish the deen of democracy and its way of life and create fitnah and discord in the ummah and its lands then they can follow their masters back to the uk where they belong if they don't want to be part of the ummah of muhammad (saw).

that is a lie, the sympathizers salafist in somalia hail from somaliland, some support them because a deep held tribal anomisty against the south and others truly believe in the jihadist verson of islam.
the early isaaq migrant went to saudi arabia and adopted new islamic school of thought which is the jihadist version of islam, and those immigrants returned just like their fore fathers who where seaman adopted new ways, their forefathers adopted mainly european based throught like liberalism and once they came back they started to propagate it.
the new generation of isaaq migrants who went to the gulf states in the early 80 when the isaaq based rebel group was fighting the somali goverment, came back to somalia, they started to propagate their version of islam not only in somaliland but through out the whole somali peninsula and godane the head of al shabab is a prime example of early isaaq migrant returnees.
keep in mind the entire somaliland economy is in the hands of salafist jihadist namly former migrant to saudi arabia who returned after the fall of the previous somali goverment.
the difrence between the nort and the south is that al shabab is a allien concept in the fierce and independent clans of the south, als shabab has forcefully imposed their foreign thoughts to sufi like somalis of the south, while in the nort if al shabab went full out to somaliland the majority of people might except their salafist doctrines according the pentagon and CIA anylist, mr godane the head of al shabab hhas silent and underground support in major somaliland cities so if the political stalemate in somaliland percist the poor and underdevelped masses in somaliland might seek a new patron, and al shabab is the most attraactive to the political disalutioned masses of somaliland who have no trust in the riyaole regime nor any trust in federal goverment in somalia.
