This pakistani guy at University was making fun of them then asked if I was Hanafi but I said I don't think so I am just sunni and I am pretty sure after that I'm not hanafi.

Then he went into a 3 minute tirade making fun of saudi wahabism and how they have their trousers too high up and unnecessary things they do then he said I have somali's with their ginger beards

your sunni muslim who follows the school of thought of Al shafici, which is what is predominant in somali yemen, east africa, indonesia, malesysia. Theres four schools of thought in islamic sunni, Al shafici, al Maliki, al Hanbali, al Hanafi and these four accept each other and see nothing wrong with eachother but are just different forums of the sharia. Wahabi's or better known as salafi's are a newer branch of sunni islam with its own off shoots and divisions, which see themselves as a puritanical movement.

But I don't have to say I am Shafici just because I am Somali right? I can just say I am Sunni, as I have read from all different schools because of living in the UK were the Muslims are predominantly Asian- Indian and Pakistani. Therefore the sheiks, teachers, books available are similar to their branch Hanafi. So I don't follow just one school. But overall I am Sunni.

A Distant relative of mine about 3 year's ago decided to marry a Jamacian dude who she met at the Mosque, well she had one brother who lives back in Africa and he basically cut her off and so did all her family. Fast Forward 4 Year's that same man basically divorced her and ended up going back to the life style he was use to. how is that "unnecessary"? men have a dress code in islam just like women do.
