Another indication is the number, size and populations of cities. First of all, Somaliland has more cities than Puntland. There is Boorama, Gabiley, Hargeisa, Berbera, Burao,Erigabo these are very large cities and in addition there are many medium-small fast growing towns e.g. oodweyne, caynaba and villages. If one considers the size/population of these cities, it is evident that Hargeisa alone is larger and more populated than than Boosaaso, Garowe, Galkacayo, Gardho, Las Anod and Kismaayo put together (see google maps if you like). Let alone inclusive of all those other cities..
