I think you may argue that Al Shabaab isn't giving people a fair trial, or that they are cutting off hands when mass poverty exists and they should take that account before amputations.
But I don't think you can call cutting off limbs "draconian" or not apart of the religion. From the time of the prophet it is clear that it is a fair and just practice and is decreed by Allah. If you really think otherwise, I'm not sure of what else to say to you.
Firstly it is very clear what the interpretation means. It is wholy accepted by the Muslims, and it is straight from the Quran which means it is the words of Allah.
Secondly by saying it is not draconian or inhumane it is implying that you know better than Allah, and that your views are better than that of Allah and his messenger.
Thirdly the barbarism is that someone would be overcome by greed and take something that does not belong to him, not that his hand should be cut off

Free world strikes back
America has entered talks with the Taliban

There's overwhelming scientific data proving evolution. It's no longer even a matter of debate, just like everyone pretty much agrees the world is not flat.kadarre wrote:Madd_Scientist_ wrote:union wrote:^

Re: Wonderful world of radical Islam
Stop acting like there's only one way to interpret the Qu'ran/hadith. You do realize there are two major sects in Islam right? And dozens of schools of thought, and hundreds of conflicting interpretations of different hadith and qu'ranic aya by different scholars. I do not agree with the amputation of limbs at all, especially in Somalia where theft is driven by hunger and desperation and not "greed", and I have shown that the ayaa in question can be interrupted a different way with a compelling argument. God gave us a mind to reason, and conscious to show mercy-and you want people to throw away both their reason and kindness and allow some barbaric practice to go on?Shirib wrote:Yes.union wrote:Am I wrong for advocating for an interpretation of the Qu'ran that is humane, just, and decent? The Taliban have been driven from power, their financing severely disrupted and their leadership lives in daily terror of drones. All they can do is launch an occasional suicide bomb that kills innocent people walking the street. We are always open to negotiation, as we realize most of the Taliban are just tribal dummies who aren't hardened ideologues, but it's going to be on our terms.Oxidant wrote:Free world strikes backAmerica has entered talks with the Taliban

Why do you support SL government when they don't implement shariah?The_Emperior5 wrote:if you dont believe in parts of the quran you are a gaal

I never hear about ritual stoning, hands being cut off, public lashings? Surly that German man who prostituted your iddor sisters wouldn't have been allowed to walk away lash free?
Re: Wonderful world of radical Islam
I don't support the Taliban, however, it's America who wants the talks. Plain and simple, Clinton just came out and said we cannot kill every single Taliban fighter and dialogue is needed. Since the free world supposedly fought back, terrorism attacks have only increased. Taliban is a strong and well oil machine, I don't know how you can deny this. 10 years more and coalition is facing more and more deaths as they struggle to come to terms with their financial problems at home.union wrote:The Taliban have been driven from power, their financing severely disrupted and their leadership lives in daily terror of drones. Also I don't know how you can call those Iraqis fighting against Americans in their home land as terrorist. They have every single right to fight against Americans
Re: Wonderful world of radical Islam
By every conventional standard, this war has been a military success for the United States. Less than 4,000 soldiers have been killed (out of a million strong military), that's how much they used to lose in Vietnam weekly. A democratic government has been installed (at least in theory) and Al Qadea can no longer reign freely in Afghanistan. It's much harder for the terrorists to strike on the U.S mainland if they have to run mountain to mountain while the drones circle above, killing their leaders almost daily. The Taliban still poses a real danger to freedom worldwide, but no where near as much a danger as they did when they were the government of Afghanistan. No they're a disgruntled rebel group.Oxidant wrote:I don't support the Taliban, however, it's America who wants the talks. As for the Iraqis, people who wire themselves up and detonate themselves in crowded market places are definitely terrorists. The "freedom" fighters seem more intent on blowing up their own fellow citizens for sectarian reasons rather than fighting the occupiers, who are pulling out. The government of Nuri Al Malki has been elected by the people of Iraq and the United States will obviously continue to lend a hand to our new threshold of freedom in the Middle East.
