i don't know what full-time employees and whether i've been to qardho has anything to do with what we were discussing. where do you get your info from? where are you sources? that's all i want. i don't think i'm asking for too much especially when you keep making these out-of-this-world claims.

With all that's happening in it, I must say there is no city like it in the whole of Somalia ..SL and PL cities pale in comparison.

snake, my claim that Qardo doesn't add a penny to Puntland economy and its residents depend on remittance largely stands unless you can prove otherwise. Whoever told you otherwise lied to you...

We don't all have to be "hutus" to say a few nice things about Xamar.

I only spoke of what I witnessed & my future plans. And Xamar is far from being in the "shadow of death." More like riding on an eclipse to grandeur & re-birth.

It'll either be Marka or Xamar that I move back to, inshallah.

Mogadishu sucks...it looks like some ancient ruins overrun with bushes. I wouldn't even want to visit such a hideous place. If I ever go to the South, I'd much rather visit Marka and Barawe instead.

that's not how it works. you made the claim, you back it up. now where's your proof? if you don't have any proof then stop peddling your opinions as some sort of incontrovertible fact.

i don't think she meant it's a dead city with no economy and is always in a perpetual state of war, but rather that it's a city where a lot of people died and continue to die on a large scale. personally, i hate driving/walking by cemeteries because it creeps the hell out of me and to me mogadishu is a big ass cemetery. :|

Furthermore, dusty clan villages anigaa waso. They'll never have what coastal, Southern cities have i.e. historical significance & superb cuisine. Why, in Marka alone, fish can be served everyday of the week and never the same way. What do lamagoodle shanty villages know about cuisine & culture? Trying to burry in dirt centuries of civilization under the false pretenses that these cities are death traps. My childhood home in Marka was at best 300 years old and what a house it was. No amount of poorly constructed "villas" without paved roads is going to make up for what some see as delabitated buildings in Shangaani or even Marka. The ventilation and airy set-up of these ancient homes alone is remarkable and notweworthy. In the brutal Marka sun, you'd never need an AC or even oscilating fan. Built by skilled & cultured people, for cultured people. It will all return to what it was in due time, inshallah.

That's a misconception and one that can easily be reversed. Xamar has its dark stains, no one can deny it, but its been more than what people are willing to give credit for. The last actual clan fighting in the city was back in the early 90s, since then the city has revitalized in many areas. Its not fair to call a buzzling metropolis of over a million a cemetery. Surely, all those people are not blind to it. I still haven't lost my connection to it and still have relatives living in it. Also, planning to return there soon to volunteer @ Dr. Hawa Abdi's camp, inshallah.
