Shire Jama Script (Somali written language)

I don't get these ignorant fools.

Somalia had NO official written language, every piece of written work was written in Italian, Arabic or English. All the governments in Somalia prior the Siad Barre revolution failed to create and implement the Somali written language.

One of the biggest achievement of the revolutionary government was the implement and creation of the Somali script. With thanks to academic professor Shire Ahmed who designed and worked hard to create a script to a precise perfection let it be economic wise or being close to matching a script with our language.

All the governments before Siad Barre failed to implement a script to our language, they pushed and shoved eachother to use Arabic text, Osmaniya, and others. Which all failed to present our language.

We should be proud of the Shire Jama script, and we should be proud of the revolutionary government for making it possible.

This thread wasn't about who created the X. Cause the Somali script we use in Somalia, is created by Shire Jama, there is nothing in our script that comes from another person. Somalia has only 1 script, that is Shire Jama script

Grant, I don't think it was that complex to write romanised Somali, I mean if you know how to write English and can speak Somali...it seems pretty logical way of writing. Maybe it was complex to decide which script to pick in the end but writing ba ta ja xa qa ra sa dha ... doesn't seem that hard compared to other scripts around the world. Maybe it seemed huge because most Somalis were illiterate at the time.

Ximan, as far as I know, af Somali is written in Latin/Roman alphabet with a few adaptations made by some scholars in the 60s and 70s. There is no Somali script belonging to a person.

Latin alphabet is afcourse not created by Somalis. Many Somali scholars tried to figure which text/alphabet to use for Somali language. That is one stage

Shire Jama was one of the few scholars that has chosen the latin text. However no scholar successfully used the latin in the Somali language apart from Shire Jama.

Its not easy to design the latin text in Somali language, it takes hard work and knowledge. Thanks to Shire Jama, he had successfully designed the Somali script that is nearest to our language.

He is the father of the Somali written language, thanks to him we can able to read and write Somali

You cannot reject that he is the inventor of Somali written language otherwise you denying the Somali history.

The Somali script was implemented by the Revolutionary government, were they chose to use Shire Jama Script as the Somali written language. Shire Jama successfully created a script that perfects our language.

You cannot create a script easily, it has to match and perfect our oral language.

None of the Somalis in diaspora specially the younger generation can write the official Somali written language properly, they just write what the pronounce. Thats is wrong. We should write Somali language properly according to the official written language of Somalia which is Shire Jama script.

Go to Somalia and study your language you will learn alot. I'm sure you will appreciate the Somali written language inventor then.

Its sad that you try to perfect the English written language, I bet you took part in spelling bee's and english grammar lesson. But you take the Somali written language as a joke, be proud of your mother language. Learn your language properly Don't let hate make you think that Shire Jama is not the inventor of Somali official written language, cause your silly arguments sounds like your a hater.

What is a Hirsi script? Nowhere in the Somali history mentions it. No where in the Somali education system from the 60s to the present ever heard of it.

Care to explain to us what a Hirsi script is?
