My simple answer is, law's should be for the common good and not based on personal/religious view, prostitution i.e that is the act of selling sex does not harm society at large, therefore it should legal just as any other profession.

Fair enough. Here is what my defination what makes something ollegal... As modern humans we have a universal consensus(somewhat or at least close enough in terms of relevance) on what is moral and what is immoral, what is good and what is not and etc... Based on universally accepted code, we deem prostitution illegal because it violates that code of goods and it falls under the obscene and immoral. You said it does not harm society but does and here is why: what do you say stds? If its legal that means you have many different parnters at your disposal doesnt that increase stds?

Metamorphosis, by the same logic 'gambling' can be considered 'immoral' but it is legal. about std's, you have to understand it's the exchange of money for sex that is illegal, not the activity of sleeping with many different partners which is perfectly legal.

i will admit, some activities associated with prostitution such as street solicitation, female trafficking should be illegal because those activities are harmful to society. However, i do not find it reprehensible at all for a woman or man to sell their bodies in their own establishment. and as others have mentioned, whether it is illegal or not, it will continue to happen.

MrSinister wrote:i agree with wolf24, prostitution should be legalized. In america, owning a gun is legal, but prostitution isn't. messed up priorities if you ask me. one thing i've also noticed, is that the biggest puritans who condemn prostitution are almost alway customers of these same prostitutes.
