Today back home there's too many Salafists, i remember when i visited a tomb of a Shaykh , all i did was read quran and the tomb-keeper sprayed some cadar on the top of the grave where some rugs of quran were layed out, i come back to my madarassa and when i told my macalin he told me " Thats haram and you can go to hell for it " i was like WTF.

Are you talking about Sheikh (the town)? I have visited that place and it provides a glimpse of history. I did not see any of that. I visited Cilmi's grave in Berbera and I admit I laid some flowers-

Even if people did that it is a show of respect. Sheikh is the burial ground of many people that spread islam.

Yeah but i remember a strange thing in Sheikh Yussuf's Shrine, there was so much xabaalo outside the tomb my bros where with me but they couldn't take their shoes off because it was too tight, me and my father went in, and there was a empty room with an empty shrine, and the tomb-keeper said Shaykh Yussuf had a dream that Ali (RA) told him to build a tomb in that room. Did you see that aswell?

I know. But those who accompanied him when he came to Hargeisa (from probably Harer) are burried in Sheykh.; right?

Abuukar, I saw that and women putting some threads on the tree near his grave. I have also seen men taking some soil samples. But, that does not diminish his role in enhancing not only islam but literacy as a whole.

I have read somewhere (reliable source) that he came from Harer (the seat of islamic civilisation in the northern part of somali territory) to Hargeisa but it is likely that his journey started in Egypt/Sudan.

His contribution is what stands out.
