I would not be surprised if your story is true. Sad though, very sad I can imagine those poor folks under the control of ruthless regime. Poor things. It hurts to hear that.

It is sad. On the one hand they have a government who couldn't care less. On the other they have their own people who say "serves you right. You shouldn't be screwing around." Sometimes I wonder if the Somalis have any compassion left at all. Every now and then, though, I meet the doctor in K'ebri Dehar who works with next to nothing, makes almost no money, lives in a lousy little concrete shack (he was educated in the US) an stays in the shithole and continues to work under the most frustrating conditions. It's a healthy reminder that not all Somalis are freaks like here on the net.
