homosexual acts are against Islam, homosexuality in itself isn't. I think we need to understand that.

Homosexuality is when someone is attracted to the same sex, sometimes it could even be uncontrollable (try being able to control your attraction to a hot chick.) Now performing the acts and practicing homosexuality is what is against Islam.

To be able to tackle homosexuality we need to understand that, otherwise we'll just be alienating individuals who may have the feelings but haven't committed the act, we need to help those people. By putting them all in one box we risk pushing those individuals who haven't committed any act to commit them (If I'm damned anyway I might as well go all the way-kind of logic)


Also as far as I know (M)homosexuality is a concerned with masculinity whilst pedophiles are into infantile traits, if there ever was such a thing as a sexuality scale, these two would be at opposite ends lol. I would be very surprised if there is any connection between them.
