Well you forgot to mention the staggering Medical school loans that you'd be paying off for half ur life.

Not to mention people here in the U.S love to sue at the drop of a hat and most doctors go bankrupt before retirement.

There are always costs involved; prof degrees cost more because of the payback. It is the same for many other degrees. It is a global phenomenon. I have a huge loan; I am paying circa 10% my salary every month. But, that is worth it.

As regards litigation, there is always an insurance policy to cover that. Unless you open your own business, the propensity to be sued is very low. Your employer could be liable but there are lawyers to take care of that.

My advice; get a medical degree and go back home to help Somalis. In that way, you avoid litigation, you serve your ppl and much more

I get it. CNA and other specialised nurses earn alot even here. We have some midwives/ oncology nurses that make alot of money here. The number of years in service, also counts.

Why don't you like nurses?? I hate dentists, I always feel like they are smiling behind the mask while sticking needles in your mouth.

i don't like them because most of them hate their job. i don't respect anybody who chose a profession which is to serve others, to care of the most vulnerable in our society but also hate what they do. they look at patients as numbers and not people who are sick.

I totally agree with u sxb. They are in it for the money. Especially those that work in county jails.

Back in 2010 when I had to do 6 months at the Franklin County Jail in Columbus for DUI, 9 out of the 15 inmate nurses were Ajanabi/foreigners.

I twisted my uncle playing Basketball at the rec yard, and the fat overweight Qumayos wouldn't even give me a painkiller and couldn't speak English. Bunch of goddamn Amharic fat slopes.

Couldn't even come out my cell because my ankle was swollen. I only got a medical attention after the housing unit deputy noticed I was in deep pain and called them.

So yea, they are all in it for the money and could careless about the well beings of others. That's why I was happy when those nurses caught that Ebola thingy.

Couldn't have happened to more deserving people.

GAMER, i spent a lot months and years in and out of hospitals because my dad was a cancer patient, alx allah took it away now. so i have seen how they are with patients and how they operate. there is a reason why they are not doctors, because they aren't good people. when i deal with a doctor, its always pleasant, decent and doctors show a lot of care but then you deal with a nurse and its the opposite and you just want to choke them.

It's obviously not the stereotypical male profession and I imagine it takes strength of character for a man to do that. At the end of the day, they tend to the needy and that's admirable work.

Imansquad, as in all professions there are always rotten eggs. There are even some rogue doctors. Cancer is a horrible disease saaxib. Patients and families are under pressure; the medical staff too. It is usually the nurse that gives the horrible cocktails. They perform under the worst kind of conditions; death is a common occurance not to mention the faces of fading patients. Didn't they provide you with a team of therapists ( psychologists,, religious leaders , social welfare officers’ etc) ? In Scandnavia, it is common to have a support team. Most cancer patients meets nurses.

Good to know your dad beat it. Statistically, he was lucky.

Not really. I was on about the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and didn't catch the error. Many, many Somalis work as CNA, I think it is a 6 month course. Pay is above minimum wage, but the work is hard.
Your last question is not clear. Yeah, there are students enrolled in Colleges and Universities and some hospital pay their staff to get nursing degrees. there are always shortages of nurses in rural areas and under-served urban areas. Several years ago South Africans and Filipino nurses were aggressively recruited to work in the US.

Well I am really glad to hear that. At least in the free world you have a recourse and can file a complaint as apposed to, if u were in custody and if u complain, they could careless.

If it was my father who had to deal with ordeal and the fat slopes weren't doing their jobs, well let's just say they would've been shown the errors of their way, and I would probably be standing in front of a judge..

Back in the good old days, in the realms of the British empire, nurses were categorised into three main taxonomies; Enrolled, registered and specialised nurses. The role of the enrolled nurse was was to tackle hygiene issues.

Here they have LPN - licensed Practical Nurse which is lower in grade than the Registered Nurse so I guess the work is doled out according to the level of training -
