Aishah & Lbix thanks ladies... the thing is, usually for both me & my mum it's around £38 a month... is that decent or too much? I won't lie sometimes it's more, but that's because of calls out of the plan or mobile data (doesn't come with the plan either). And 08 numbers are a definite no-no. What do you think?
Re: are you saving for ...
Why don't you guys just get pay as you go instead of all this cabaad.

Ina Adeer can you elaborate.
It is compulsory on my employer to contribute 8% and 5% comes from my wages. Moreover, you could salary sacrifice to top up your superannuation up to a quarter of your wages. The idea is you might earn similar income and lead similar lifestyle while in retirement without added pressure of expecting your children to contribute to your retirement when they are struggling with their young families. The welfare state will slowly shrink and many elders will find themselves under the care of charities.

By the time most of us retire, the baby boomers are long dead and the population pyramid in most of the West won't be as skewed anymore. I doubt it will become unfordable after the baby boomer generation is gone.Machiavelli2 wrote:It is compulsory on my employer to contribute 8% and 5% comes from my wages. Retirement age Alle ha ina gaarsiiyo. Every time I am forced to put aside something for my old age in a company I switch jobs just to get away from the so called pension plans. I haven't warmed to idea of living here and making plans for my old age.

Something like this.Theguardian wrote:^^^^ retirement?? As if- what's point of kids? They are your investment.
Maybe I will buy a house but doesn't is it - the rest I am leaving to my kids.
If you don't own your house by the age of 50 you're a loser.
