Not for the money nor love of it. Kinda fell into accounting as it was the feild with the most jobs and hence why i focused on this route. Really bored and looking for a career change, to put it nicely.

Nice to meet a fellow somali aviator

does that 80k pay for your Private, Commercial and eventually Airline Transport License? Cuz with private schools, you are looking at pretty much that range of costs to obtain atleast your private and commercial.

I am working towards my Commercial at the moment aswell as getting my Multi-IFR (instrument flight rules)/Night ratings.

P.S. - You'll understand this jargon once you start

P.P.S. - The Cessna's are a piece of shit to fly

Over and Out
I havent officially started flying yet but I have been on a Cessna's and looking forward in flying it inshallah.

THe 80k pays for everything. From Piravte, Multi engine, instrument iyo Commercial.

Will have my Piravte by spring inshallah and will stay at the school during the summer to get my Muti engine done.

My school is contracted with Midway Aivation.

Zeen bro.

My program is integrated with both academics and flying (4 year bach deg.). One really good thing about it is, i get all my ratings and licenses covered under my tuition..whereas if i was with a private school, i'd be looking at around what you are paying for (without the ATPL).

I've logged about 50+ so hours on the Cessna 172's..but as of right now, manz looking foward to gettin my rating on the CRJ-200/600 commercial jet.

But Inshallah bro..round 2012ish, the industry should be out of its slump and back to hiring.

oh btw, i thought i'd just let you naww ahead of time, incase u naww..we kinda get into a disagreement..I call dibs on them fit young female flight attendants

To be honest for Me it was:

1)Money
2)Money
3)Money

That being said there were always things I couldn't see myself becoming, a doctor, lawyer, etc.

I always knew it would be a technical dicipline i.e Technology, Engineering, etc.

My parents wanted me to become a Doctor...I could never for I strongly dislike hospitals and sick people...in my freshman year of college, I worked at a hospital doing assistant lab work...drawing blood from patients and taking it to the lab to be reviewed. While I was doing that, a friend of mine who was a TA (Teacher's assistant) got pregnant and recommended that I take her place since I always loved to teach. I left the hospital and started working in her position...after she came back...I worked in other schools (middle and high)...I fell in LOVE with the whole atmosphere of teaching and at the same time learning from the students....since I was really confused in what to major in, finally I changed my major to English Literature with an Education minor. I"m now almost done with it Alhamdulilah....but I will continue to study English till I get my Phd....reason why I want to teach college/University level Literature is because I want to teach adults (mature folks) who really wanna learn...make more money than a K-12 grade teachers...and be my own boss (professors don't have anyone who watches over them everyday...but they do report as I've heard)....laakiin inshAllah I hope to, one day, help shape the education system in Somalia! I also plan to visit my homeland every summer to teach....

BTW, Literature is a great subject...I'm very passionate about it. I will prolly focus on the Romantic Era or African American....or perhaps both if that is do-able!

OliveOil wow mashallah a PhD in English/Literature. I can't imagine doing that. I got A's in all my English stuff in school but the sitting around and sheeko sheeko and "there is no wrong or right answer" that really did my head in

To the topic I am not motivated by money I realised. I am motivated by curiosity and interest in the subject.

Actually there r wrong answers...lol unless, of course, you can convince the audiance with valuable references to the text or historical context....e.g. does it make sense, does it flow easily, does it have back-up evidence to convince. Girl, there were countless times that I said something totally offfff in class and everybody looked at me like "umm okay"

I like to be original with my analytical and argumentative points.

Anyways, what r u studying though and hope to become??

Solomon Ibn Gabirol, Who seeks more than he needs, hinders himself from enjoying what he has. Seek what you need and give up what you need not. For in giving up what you don’t need, you’ll learn what you really do need.
Beng grad.

I intend on returning to the horn one day and being a self employed somali surrounded by the dikr melody of those like ahl as-suffah.
