Kolombo,

Let me tell you something. The girl you speak so well about is a facade. She doesn't exist, if a person who goes to the masjid and knows the teachings of the religion would NEVER marry a man who was addicted to Khat. She would marry her equal.

You show signs of insecurity Kolombo. If you don't care about qabil, how come you never tried a girl from your clan since you are supposed to be blind to qabiil. Being opposed to tribalism does not mean running away from your own. That is just insecurity.

If she is religious, and a good girl, why marry a chewer? oh wait, she believes deep down that she can change him. Women like her are delusional.

Qansa,

This has nothing to do with inseucirities sxb, its a matter of principle. I never saw the need to pursue from my own because this isn't the time or place for it. Maybe if this was 200 years ago in Dhagaxbuur and there were few men left to carry on the clan name from all the wars, then probably yes. What purpose does it serve today? If anything, its marrying for all the wrong reasons. Besides, I don't need to feel like I belong by chasing after my cousins and shit, I already know what I am and that's good enough for me.

she is helping out her brother in Islam and a person from a tribe so what? she actually gets Agar and hasanah for doing this, and it is not weird since she is religious and tries to help people as often as she can.

Qabiil is the last thing I think of when it comes to a woman, walahi.

I've known some women and only found out their qabiil some time after we departed.

Whole qabiil thing is just another way for people to feel like they belong somewhere. Same way people associate themselves with political or religious ideologies, regions, age, gender, race, etc. Qabiil is one more way to feel like you belong. Same way young men join gangs and neo-nazi groups, at the end of the day its about being accepted.

When I was around 10 or 11, my father took me to Jubbooyinka where our people settle and I met these Bantu looking men who claimed to be Cawliyahan. They looked nothing like the usual Cawliyahans I've always know right, so I asked how come they look different? I was told its because they are actually not Cawliyahan, they are reer Jubba, Mushunguli from years before who were servants of some ugaas in that region, over the years they took the name Cawliyahan. What we call "sheegato". And the thing is almost every clan has them.

This shows its not about blood-lines or nobility, its just wanting to belong, to be part of something bigger & greater.
