going through the stats when population of somalia was estimated 7 million this was the figures :

South somalia = 3.9 million
Somaliland =1.8 million
Puntland =863,000

if you will take it 10 million (it means 50% + ) then this is how it will look :

South somalia = 5.9 million
Somaliland =2.8 million
Puntland =1.3 million

total = 10 million.

Population of Puntland is 1.1 million - (excluding Sanaag and Sool province).

300,000 in Bosaso
150,000 in Gaalkacyo
75,000 in Garowe
50,000 in Qardho

Total major urban towns: 575,000

The remaining 525,000 live across the state in several villages (mainly fishers) and a portion (I guess 25%) lives as traditional nomads/herders.

North Somalia (everything above Gaalkacyo, incl Somaliland) is probably 4 million (40%)
South Somalia (under Gaalkacyo) is probably 6 million (60%)

The images of the camps have led the UN's refugee agency to estimate that the number of people living in the Afgooye Corridor is a staggering 410,000. Previous estimates, in September 2009, had put the number at 366,000.

Once a rural area, the Afgooye corridor is now the third largest urban area in Somalia after Mogadishu and Hargeisa in Somaliland. It is the country's capital of the displaced.

Afgooye is where a significant portion of Mogadishu's population has moved to it is about 14km to the north-west of Mogadishu

I've just looked at the images on google maps and though it is growing fast because of the diplaced people from Mogadishu, Afgooye is smaller than Burco, let alone Boosaaso. I wouldn't say that with 350-400 k people, that it is the third largest urban area.

According to the Guardian it is the third largest urban city in Somalia after Mogadishu and Hargeysa.

My pop estimation of the South.
Banadir and the Shabbelle area 3.5million
South Central 2 million
Southwestern 2.5 million

The total pop of the South is approx 8 million

I think (cannot backup scientifically) 70% - 75% of our population live south of Galkacyo. By the way that 10 million is just a conservative estimate. Again, I think Somalia population is over 20 million now.
