You could tell that the mother was trying to get in the way by asking to get the belt. She just gave her once lash and left after her husband. That was her way of cooling the situation down. Everything was all nice and dandy after he came back for his licks.
I believe the mother was stuck and couldn't say shit. It's one of those lifetime movies where the father is a high ranking judge/police officer and his family can't speak up against him. Why? Cuz they're scared of the consequences coming their way if they snitch. Snitches get stitches!

Hooyo's brother is KULEEL, his ass beatings were similar to that one, I was 7 and 8. Honestly now that I think about it, we've all had our asses beat THAT EXTREME at least once or twice. I mean, my mother would sock me in the chest while she's driving. That's cuz I'd talk back though, I was a teenager and she just wanted to show me who the boss was. I wasn't only disciplined by my mom, the whole family used to whip my ass when I fucked up!
I STILL think that video is super harsh!
