The Guri or earlier Marehan conquerors, such as Rer Hassan, Hawlraarsame, Soonfure, etc revolted against the British in 1913-4 in Jubbaland. They sent out a plea for support to the rest of Northern Marehan in the central regions and British Somaliland. Acting upon the request, the Northern Marehan sent out a party of supporting forces to assist the Guri against the British. Upon arriving in Jubbaland, they were known as the Galti forces (i.e. second wave of conquerors).
