San-dheer, you said that none of the Somali people are Arabs and we, Somalis, have descended from apical Samaale and we originated somewhere in Ethiopia. The Italian goverment sent an explorer, whose name was Robechi-Bricheti, to Somalia in 1880.He travelled almost all the Somali inhabited region of the horn of Africa and he collected the geneologies of the Somali clans including the Hawiyas and the Hawadlas. And if you check the geneological pedigrees which he wrote in his book, you wont find any place where it is written the name "Samaale".The last apical ancestor that the Hawiye clan traced their geneology was Hawiye Irir. That means the name "Somali" is not a clan name but rather a name that has been dubbed on us by the Hararis.
Aristocrat-1, you asked me if I believe to be an Arab.Yes!, several years ago, I use to hesitate whether I am an Arab or not.But after i made deep research in the history of my clan, I came to know that I was as much an Arab as the King Abdalla of Saudi Arabia if not more.

S_lander-boy, so, you're saying the Ummah will never rise and become strong as long as Arabs are weak?
I strongly believe in the above quote(my personal opinion). No Arabs...or weak Arabs= weak Ummah. Check the islamic history, you might find few non Arab individuals(namely Salahudin Al Ayubi, Al Bukhari etc.) who have done great things for Islam, but in comparison to arabs they are nothing in terms of the Arabs have done for Islam.
That being said, I cant hate Arabs, but I despise some of their leaders(maybe most) and some of their pupulace as well, because of what they have done to the name of Muslims in general...not because they did or didnt donate few dates or few dollars to somalis .

Cawar, well, what you "strongly believe" is flawed. Muslims had majestic empires ruled by different ethnicities (including non-Arabs) for the most part of the past 14 centuries. The Ottoman empire existed from 1299 to 1922; the longest Islamic empire. Within the Islamic empire, there were local empires (in the form of kingdoms, sultanates, emirates, etc). Local empires existed across the Islamic world, including East Africa (Adal Sultanate), West Africa (Kingdom of Ghana, Kingdom of Mali), Europe (Andalus), Asia (Mughal Empire) etc.
Arabman
You are right about these empires and i am aware of the Othaman empire.
But I am basing my believe as to the need of the islamic ummah for a big and drastic spritiual reform in order to regain any viable Islamic state/ummah, and that is something that Arabs excel in and have excelled in the past my friend, just like when Islam started!

Well, that's also flawed. It implies only Arabs can implement Islam, which is incorrect.
It doesnt imply anthing, its simply the fact.
Now... you can name few non Arabs great Islamic scholars, but that doesnt change the fact the Arabs as a whole have done what they have done in the past as well as in the present.
Why dont you tell me who can do that in their place?? or actually do that better than them??

Why not Somalis? Ahmed Gurey's sultanate nearly brought Abyssinia on the brink of total collapse, which led to the intervention of Europeans to rescue Abyssinia. Somalis are known to be brave and formidable warriors. Provided they abandon qabilism, strengthen their Islamic faith- I don't see why they cannot lead the Ummah. That's just an example; there are the Indonesians (the most populous Muslims), Pakistanis (nuclear capable), Malaysia (technologically advanced), etc. The question is; why can't non-Arab Muslims step ahead to lead the Ummah? At least Turks and Kurds have done it before.
