Agnostic,
As Muslims, we believe that the purpose of being created is to worship Allah (swt). Therefore whoever does not fulfil that obligation will go to hell. That is a fact that is undisputed in Islam. It is not up to us to decide who goes to hell or who goes to heaven because that decision is Allah’s. Who by the way you don’t believe in and thus should not even be concerned about.

So at the end of the day, Allah is The Merciful. You may not believe in Him but that is your problem. (surat kafirun)
Don’t get offended if muslims don’t want to be your best friend.

After all we don’t have much in common if you deny our Lord. But nonetheless, muslims are expected to treat non believers with respect and dignity and even when a muslim does good for a non believer, Allah rewards him.
The prophet (swt) was actually very kind towards the non believers. There is good and bad in everything. Not all muslims are perfect. Saying they are is being hypocritical and stereotyping us on a selected few is just dumb!!

lion
from this thread i have concluded that you are a cry baby. accusing sandheer and DD of being the same person... (and ow i forget many others) just because she disagrees with you is
i dont agree with sandheer on the hijaab issue but she is entitled to have her own opinion. that is the beauty of Islam. at the end, everyone is judged individually, on their actions. niya is also very important and if she doesn not have the right niya, whats the point.
it becomes a dictatorship if you force judgement on people and shut them up when it comes to their opinions.
NOTE: i think hijaab is compulsory in Islam if one wears it purely for the sake of Allah

i think DD has other nics. i choose to refuse that there are that many atheists in Snet.

but i doubt that sandhere is one of them
unless of course he is gay. then i have to congratulate him for his oscar worthy performance (convincing us that he was female) you should consider putting him in your movie

WaLaah, LH i have observed this character San Dheer and have seen her making lots of blunders concerning Islam but i did not wanted to say anything for two grounds
1. Conceal others faults and Allah will conceals yours on the day of judgment
2. I knew if i brought this up all the 'Kaafirs' on this site would have a field day deriding Islam
she's is from top to bottom injudicious but my Allah (swt) escort her properly and all of us Insha'allah

Under Taker First and foremost let me congratulate you on your response which was free from vilification or insults against your debating partner as is sadly not the case with so many of the Islamists on this forum.
I don't judge Islam on the actions of individual Muslims who may or may not be adhering to Islam. Rather I judge Islam based on its sources: the Quran and the Sunnah.
Your saying that Islam requires Muslims to be kind to non-Muslims is false and in itself unIslamic for you're misleading people as to the instructions of the prophet. The prophet instructed the Muslims to be "harsh" against the non-believers, whilst being "merciful" to the Muslims. See my other thread titled, "No Jews No Christians & No Dogs" in which I give a more in depth analysis.

Lionheart that was a shamefull display.
as long as a person is muslim we have no right to decide whois a muslim or whoisnt.
if in this case the persons opinions vary greatly from maintream islam you do not attack her but embrace her and draw her near,
you debate respectfully.
san dheer seems like your typical muslim in the west,
only think that irritates me about ther, is her love of Bollywood.
yuck!!!

Agnostic,
You know I was actually going to write an essay to you trying to explain islam to you but then I read on and I realised that that is what Gedo was trying to do. Allah guides whom He wills and that’s that. But advice for you, don’t come to a conclusion without gathering all the evidence. If you don’t want to believe in the existence of God then that is your problem. But saying negative things about a religion that you know nothing about is just wrong!!
Concerning behaviour towards non muslims; I have grown up with non believers and all my life, I have studied about Christianity. I am not hostile towards them and I disagree on your point that we supposed to. But then again, I can never be emotionally close to those people, I don’t have to be told that by anybody. I just cant trust them.

How do I know when I have ALL the evidence? As a thinking being why can I not at some point after I have gathered as much evidence as I can make up my mind?

when you have gathered all the evidence, then there wont be a doubt in your mind and you will be a welcomed brother in the muslim community
you know sometimes i think that the biggest gift (freewill) is our biggest curse. DD of course you can make up your mind. but your ultimate decision has huge consequences on your life and the sooner you understand that the better off you are.

Buddy, think for a moment. HOW do I know when I have all the evidence? Consider this: if i will know I will not have any doubts once I gathered at hand all the evidence, I wouldn't need be searching for any evidence, would I? I would have privy to THAT evidence to know it will remove all doubt. Do you see how anachronistic your line of reasoning is... you're putting the cart before the horse instead of the other way around.
