I agree and I'm not gonna justify people eating khat, but what I will say is that if you as a woman decide to marry a man with balwad then you are asking for it.
Even if you find a half decent man, spend within your means. That's my argument basically. Nobody can justify spending that amount of money on an one-off event.

20K is not that bad for a wedding...I mean a decsent hall with catering and good food alone would probably cost 12000-17000, the dress, videographers, flowers, invitations, music, limmo(if need be) and misc. would round up to 20,000 if not more.....
Thats not extravegant at all.....stop being meladramatic.....

pretty tacky to rent a limo for a day when its not your usual choice of transport. buy some reebok shoes on sale and walk around instead.

average somali wedding cost in my neck of the woods is $15,000+....$50,000(max)
the most over the top wedding budget i've seen so far was roughly around $100,000....ridiculous, frivolous spending if you ask me.

Inshallah my wedding budget will be 5k lool. Serious i'd rather throw the money in a drain, then spend that much on stupidity.
As for the wedding, I might still go, probably eat the food, say hi and then chill in the lobby with my cousins.

Nobleman,
The trick is to turn wadaad a few months before you get married and explain to your wife that your family don't believe in big, mixed company weddings.
$5K covers food, the wadad's fees, and Quran akhriis.

20K damn, I wouldnt mind putting 20k into the family home as a down payment. God help us it takes years to safe that on an average farax's income. To blow it in one night is just unintellegent.
I think any girl that wants such nonsense needs to safeup 20K.
Anywoman that has such expectation without making any contribution towards it is not worth a penny. Better to go mosque and find a wadaado.
