The place looks like a hell hole really. 20 years and that all you can show. Underdeveloped city with dusty roads.

I think Somaliland is limited in what it can do. It does not have all the privileges of being it's own independent country. If people knew of a peaceful nation not associated with a worn torn country called Somalia it probably would have more foriegn investments. More exports and imports. More money. Better economy . More developement. I think Somaliland is doing okay considering the current situation.Just my two cents

Puntland as entity existed for 12 years while Somaliland 20 yet Puntland has already caught up Somaliland and is able to pass it on all indexes. Within 5 years as you continue your futile journey for secessionism, Galmudug reach your status

That said, Somaliland is truly an embarrassment. 20 years of self rule from a dictator yet I still unpaved roads and trash everywhere. High level of unemployment and poverty, they fought off a dictator yet they take orders from Meles and Somali region leader. They create graduate students from university for non-existent job market which only crushes the kids hopes and dreams after graduation.

A Khat dependent economy which is propped up by the Diaspora the same people who funded the Liberation front, in their comfort of their housing commissions and welfare money

It has been 20 years, no development, no recognition, no economic progress, no jobs,

This is the sole reason why I don’t name my tribe or region, people will make assumption and attack it and divert away from the topic at hand, and my tribal heritage doesn’t matter in the discussion at all. The exact same thing happened with AbdiWahab252 when I asked “Why USC went against Siad Barre”. He constantly asked for my tribe as if it had any relevance with the topic. Like I said Somaliland is still heavy and brutally underdeveloped and poor. The region's economy is based on Khat and money from the Diaspora. Those poorly designed buildings that you love to post, doesn’t reflect the overall poverty faced by the region.
