grandpa,

it is one thing to express your opinion but it is another thing to claim a peace of land or a house that doesn't belong to you. sooner or later, everybody will have to realize that you can't indefinitely "hold on" onto something that doesn't belong to you.

just because you disagree what he said doesn't make him crazy or unrational. after all, he is a professor of a higher status university. Somalis rarely make to that far and those who do, instead of respecting and learning from them, we criticize everything they say because sometimes they happen to be from different clans.

you could question his views but calling him "insane" shows us how uneducated we are as a society. i respect all Somali intellectuals as long as they don't cross the line.

I saw this on the internet and it sums up my feeling about this issue:

I am Somali
And I worship Qabiil
I hate myself
And I hate my brother
Aggression is my business
Death is my target
Stupidity is my bride
Illiteracy my motto
Work is not in my book
Peace is my enemy
Begging is my income
Ignorance is my partner

The Diin is for debate
In which I get to win
Hope is a no-way chance
Separation is my focus
Distraction I hope for
Hatred, and only hatred
Is what I have for my country
Patriotism is an ailment
Unity is like a disease
Of which I have to detest
Because I am Somali
And I worship Qabiil!

barakaboy10 wrote:a prominent Somali professor was asked to describe the situation in Somalia by BBCSOMALI. what he said was not completing shocking to me but rather solidified my pessimistic view of Somalia. he began by saying "Soomaali wey dabar go'dey" and he continued to lay down some ugly facts about Somalia's history. when asked what can be done about the situation in Somalia or what he would say/suggest for those who are trying to find solution to the crisis, he said "forget about Somalia and don't waste your time."

so my question is: what is your view about Somalia? are you optimistic or pessimistic about the situation in our homeland?
Very optimistic and pleased with the situation of our homeland Alhamdulilah. :sland:

even if we managed to have a real functioning govt... what makes any of u think we could catch up to the rest of the world?

u have any idea about rates of unemployment, illiteracy, crime, illegal immigration, poverty, etc etc in somlaia? remember we were going reverse for over 20 years
rich african countries that had real govts since their independence are still in the bottom of human success scale. somlaia is doomed man
