well i don't agree with that, arabs don't say i'm white or brown they just say i'm arab. we shouldn't label ourselves black based on our skin colour, which we have many like i said, but on our culture which is very different than "black" culture.
this phenomenon of labeling ourselves black has started with the generation which grew up in the west, i dare anyone to ask their parents if they are black and the answer will most likely be a slap across your face.

And lets take a 'typical' Somali family as an example.. Where dark, mariin and light skinned toned individuals exist.. Are you saying some members in that family are considered black while some aint..

Ps. Being black has very little to do with skin colour!

Yes many (if not most) of them are black, unless you are going to racialize the word.

It's just a classification. You've got white people, black people and brown people and yellow people if you insisit on seperating the two. Embrace your colour! And don't think using diana will change anything

Look at white people. The pale skinned blonde haired blue eyed Swede is white, just like the tanned, dark haired, dark eyed Italian or Greek are also white.

Very true. Somalis are just different Africans, its like saying Nilotic people and Bantus are the same people. Believe it or not there is diversity within Sub-saharan Africa.

being black is a culture thing in my opinion. now the advantage we have is we can claim either when our situation requires it, for example if i'm in the middle of a group of black men and i'm asked this question i'll answer hell yh i'm black. if i'm in the middle of a group of arabs i'd be like yh somalis are arabs man. safety comes first .
