Post by Xusseyn »

Can someone tell why was 'KH' added in the Somali alphabet, when there isn't really a Somali word that starts with 'KH'?

Khadra means green in Arabic, it's not a Somali word.

Somali for green is Cagaar.

Khatar is not Somali, the Somali word for danger is Halis.

Kh is in Somali language..Haven't you ever heard when they say...Khiikhdii u dambaysey...ama hebel waa khiikh lahaa..oo naftiibaa haysay? And some time times they say Kuukh..Cabsida..

But yet most of the words that have kh are originally Arabic like;
Khafiif, khariidad, khasiis, khaa'in, khaawi, khasnad, khamri, Khamiis(Thursday) Khamiis(dress)..

This is so because our language is filled with foreign languages specially Arabic, English and Indian..
