Dahir Rayaale
Witnesses who are alive also recall Rayaale’s contribution to the war against civilians. One of the people I interviewed in Djibouti in August 1989 and who is cited in the book is Abdifatah Abdillahi Jirreh. He was only 14 at the time, but he remembered Dahir Rayaale.
One day in mid-August [1988], Dahir Rayaale, head of the NSS, came to our ice plant and took my father away. They also arrested one of the watchmen, an old man, Farah Badeh Gheedi. They were detained in the police station, accused of talking about the prospects of the SNM coming to Berbera.
Rayaale is not the only man who has held a senior political position in Somaliland whose conduct of human rights has been questioned. Many former Isaaq members of the NSS and the HANGASH, the military police that came to exert formidable power over civilians, today occupy key positions in Somaliland in the NSS, re-established in 1995, and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID). The people they tortured, interrogated and spied on, and the people whose loved ones they killed, will, one day, no doubt give their own account.

Re: Dahir Rayaale
Rayaale is a warlord, just in a suit
he helped kill innocent Issaqs in the 80s, he has just as much blood on his hands as Morgan and any other warlord you want to name.

Re: Dahir Rayaale

Lately, Whenever I heard his name "Dahir riyaale," Adis-ababa Airport incident comes to my mind. I don't know why..
Re: Dahir Rayaale
Daahir Riyaale Kaahin is not a warlord. I don't give a damn what anyone say's.
In Somali culture....when there is someone that has a high ranking position and la waayo wax kaloo laga sheego, he becomes a warlord.
Cut the crap.
...Man I wish this was a Somaliland forum...Im itiching to say something, but dont want to say infront of others..LOL! Balaayo idinku dhacday naqaskii ayaad nugu dhajiseen.

Well, we don't intend to interfere with Somali politics, but in the long run its only reasonable if Somalis come together and see if they can bring about Unification by peaceful means.

he is a SOMALI and also a war criminal
i can respect him being elected democratically and not being like his other military brethern in the south who use a gun
and SOMALI land is a land for SOMALIS, so yes it concerns me and yes, it concerns me when half of my family originates from areas currently under SL sovereignty and them originating from Hargeysa too
