the best chance for somali region was 1991 when mengistu regime was overthrown but they were fighting among themselves to take advantage to the mengistu army collapse.
The rest is history , meles tactics of "divide and conquer" was no match just like the same tactics triumphed over the somalia warlords

Re: Wow Good luck Ogaadeniya........
It just appalls me when many Somalis forget that Ogadenia is for all ethnic Somalis. Few months ago, it was two major Isaq sub clans who were fighting in Ogadenia. Mareexaan and Majeerteen fought inside Ogadenia. One of the tactics of the enemy is to create hostilities among Somali sub clans and to say that Ogadenia is just for Ogadens, you are falling for the cheap tyrant’s propaganda.
And as I have posted before, the most heinous crimes are subjected to the border people who may be Dhulbahante, Isaaq, Mareexaan, Majeerteen and so on.
I am very proud of these young heroes! Remember that Eritrea fought for its independence for over 30 years. Freedom is never free! A famous Roman philosopher’s quote says “He Who is brave is free”. I couldn’t agree more.

Guhad
Calling a chunk of land Ogadeeniya doesn't help. The 'invaders' may have created this clan name but people like you continue to push it.

Hiiraan,
I guess u don't know the rebel tatics against a larger army.
You would operate ideally in small groups to frustrate the enemy using hit and run tatics.
The USC used to operate in small bands when the SNA was strong but after the SNA was weakened and support grew, the USC had major formations of more than 2,000 men in each.

Because thats the only way to effectively operate against them.
