the turkish elections and the 'islamist' government.

Post by musika man »

the islamist party has been returned back to power. most turkish people voted for the ruling party cause of their economic credentials. the turkish prime minister promised to maintain secularism and his government will look towards to the west not the middle east or the muslim world, what is islamic about this turkish party?

Its a front. Don't believe what the PM says.

These Turks are smart about bringing their Islamic agenda to light. Unlike the Arabs right now.

What you hear from the AKP party from yohoo and yaa'ya is bull'shit....they are the forefront of the growing economy, protecting secularism, and security in the country...whilst the opposition are the ones who want to attack Iraq's northern border; close relation with the army brass, and obscure about Turkey's joining the EU.

Dear boy the secular army has overthrown the legitimate governments time and again, in 1973, in 1978 and in semi of 1988....the same AKP party has won the elections twice, but was overthrow by the Turkish army twice. This current government has won elections five years ago, though many that didn't like their governance, they voted for them for over nearly 47%in 2001...and now in 2007.

Of course, we have seen million demonstrations against them, but nearly 550 electorate in the parliament, they where elected of two thirds. Why?

Indeed, secularism didn’t mater to Turks, what matter to them was the economy and the lazy fair thinking this AKP government promised to do, and has done within turkey.

So it was not the Islamic party, but the economy.
