Organ Donor: Good or Bad Idea ???

Is it a good idea to become an organ donor ?

I've always thought its the last charitable thing you can do after carking it.

I have no idea about the Fiqh involved though.

In the US, they have regulations against certain people from donating blood for example: if you lived in the UK during the Mad Cow scare, or lived for certain number of years in subSaharan Africa, etc.

So I wonder if that also applies to organ donations ?

I think it is charitable too but I wonder if it is considered descration of your body or the fact your organs are removed before your heart stops beating (but u are brain dead).
