Don`t get too excited mr baller, That first thing that pops into your mind after reading the title of my thread is not what i have in mind
It`s more complicated than the wrong ideas u got from coming to this site.
I`m currently on a visit in a place called bergen in norway and would like to share something extraordinary i have observed with my people i.e somalis.
I don`t kno wether anyone else has seen this extremely suprising and difficult to undersatand trait with our people. Why do we keep in each others bossoms when we are few in a given area and despise one another like no one else when we are overcrowd in one place
I live in london which is home to one of the largest somali population in the diaspora. The somalis there despise one another like there is no tommorow
even their local maqxis (eateries), coffee shops, jaad chewing dens etc is devided into qabills. seldom will one see a somali going to a restaurant not run by his qabiil (tribe) kin especially if there is one owned by his clan man close by. the exception is perhaps some large maqahis which caters for speacial foods and where all get a good treat (and these are very few compared to the thousand plus somali owned fadhi ku dirir that operate in london).
The Number of somalis that live in where i`m right now and this part of norway is less than 1000 heads. to be honest am in awe at the deep affection this forks have for one another. Here is where one will see unlike London, the qowdhan sharing a joke with the xaayow, the majeer10 sharing a meal with the ceyr
. the wadad sitting comfortably with the alcoholist somali without flinching one bit or feelings of uneasiness engulfing him (not congratutaing him but giving waano where needed )
.
And believe u me, this is not the first time i have observed this mind boggling character with our people. Another time i was on a visit (u can call it transit) in place called naivasha in kenya, i was accorded the kings threatment in a home owned by an Isaaq family living there. suprise suprise, there were less than ten somali families inhabiting in that town at the town according to my host. What buffled me is, i passed through garissa town where somalis live by the hundreds of thousands and wasn't given a second look let alone a cup of tea
Wfk is wrong with us???? shouldn`t we be more pleased with having more of us falnking us on all sides?? why disconnect as soon as few more of your own show up in the neighbourhood?? shouldn`t we be acting the opposite? be happy at seeing more faces of your country mates??
