Well there are a bit of every qabiil everywhere Somalis live but not on a noticeable scale here sxb. Majority of Somalis here are Darod, especially Majeerteen, LaylKase and Mareexaan. We have one of the most huge Layl Kase populations anywhere in the world outside of Goldagob and Gaalkacyo. Laughing

Habar Giderta degan magaaladan waa dhawr qoys oo la yaqaan and they are mostly new comers.

Us all timers from 1991-1994 movers to Seattle have our own click and we all happen to be Darod with couple Xawaadle families.

The first Somali family here were Mareexaan, bah-Abaskuul, second Somali family here were also Mareexaan, Cali-Dheere and we were the third to move here, my immediate family from Holland and two of my uncles and their families from Los Angeles. Laughing

Does that reer Hersi lady who moved from Seattle still neighbor you?

Yeah for families but there were many somali students at WU back in the 70s and 80s. I think your abti Jango'an was one of them.

I thought Seattle had no habargedirs but I was just making sure. There isn't that many iljeex in America I think. Most of them went to Europe.

Anyway that reer hersi woman moved to seattle. Dude you know what is funny, I used to be neighbors with your uncle's family back in Somalia.

Advo, the short stocky dude so maaha. He just came from Africa, looking for connections I think sxb. So dhawaay ninka. Laughing That store is not my uncle's btw, it's co-owned btw my dad and two uncles but my dad runs his import/export business from Nairobi now. He went on a trip to Turkey mar dhaw, and shipped some fine Turkish rugs here he was selling to some other client's of his. That branch's revenues sky rocketed, even white folks shop there as much Soomaalida and the fam bought out the next block from the LBC and the other chain that was there to expand. Laughing

Qansa, nah sxb not too much. The Jaango'an you are talking about is Cumar Jaango'an who lives in a suburb of Toronto hada, but it wasn't Washington. Both him and Bashiir Nuur Bidaar got their bachelors from Oregon State (or U of O can't remember). But overall Mareexaans were the first to make a mark in the Pacific Northwest and Vancouver, CA. up

About living next to an uncle of mine, I think you told me before but was this early or late 80's? Late 80's we lived in a big ganjeeled compound separated into several houses in the suuqa xoolaha area. Later on base baaba laga dhigay gurigeena to stop USC infiltration into Xamar and that is when Cabdiqasim Salaad Xassan tried to put my dad on trial to tamper with the base there. Aabe Siyaad and his right hand Gen. maxamed nuur shareeco and rag kale baa caseka la hor geeyey. I never knew Cabdiqasim was covertly supporting the USC before I find out about this incident. Idea
