A state of dejection or low mood that prevents the normal functioning is referred to as Depression. Being sad for no reason or lacking motivation to do anything is generally referred to as clinical depression. A person suffering from depression has symptoms like lazy, unmotivated, tired irritable sad and apathetic. Depressions are normal but if someone is depressed from sadness for a long time then he is supposed to suffer from clinical depression. Clinical depressions lead to thinking and sometimes attempt or complete suicide.

Nearly 7 – 8 % of the global population suffers from clinical depression. At least 17 million adults in US suffer from Clinical depression. The clinical depression starts without the victim being noticed. Some get drowned into the miseries without knowing that they have an emotional or psychological problem. Clinical depression is a mental phenomenon in which the victim is affected by mind, they often feel hopeless, unable to be focused, ambitionless, and lose hope on life itself.

People suffering from chronic and acute depression are often sad and without interest that make them difficult even to wake up from the bed in the morning. The person suffering from depression finds the easy activities very difficult to be performed. Both psychological and sociological issues cause depression.

Depression is brought about by various reasons such as emotional trauma, medications, drug usage, or the combination of these factors. If untreated depression has adverse effects such as break in relationships, lack of interest on the academic achievements, Problems within family and with friends.

Investigations on these psychological problems have reported that these problems were closely related to the physio-chemical abnormalities that happen in brain. Lack of exercise, negative attitudes, less nutritious food worsen the depression in a person. Most of the people with psychological problems consult with a health professional who suggests for some mood balancing drugs.

However, Intense Psychotherapy and counseling are required for better results. Depression in the starting or milder stage can be cured without antidepressants. Therapies involving personal expressions are found to be more effective to make the patients to give away their pent-up feelings and deep-rooted emotions. Practice of dance, martial arts, etc can effectively reduce depression. Ancient Methods of stress relief measures and exercises such as yoga, hypnosis, acupuncture, and meditation are very effective remedies for depression.

Diet also plays a vital role in curing depression. Use of foods that are rich in zinc, B vitamins and fish oils help in regulating chemicals that may suppress depression. Activities like exercise, dancing, and swimming, playing will rejuvenate the body, keep the body and the mind free, and promote a better lifestyle.

Depression which has its effect quite widespread in the present world, is as old as time. Despite of fast growing technologies and heavy levels of sophistications depression continues to debilitate many lives. There are many healing traditions, which are highly capable to help get rid of depressions totally. Learning on such healing traditions helps the people elbow out the depressions and to discover vibrant energy and personal empowerment.
