Muslim Postage Stamp Issued By US Postal Service!!!

Post by Kramer »

Muslim postage stamp
In 2002 the United States Postal Service acknowledged the contribution Muslims make to their country by issuing a commemorative stamp.

The Eid stamp commemorates the two most important festivals - or eids - in the Islamic calendar: Eid ul Fitr and Eid ul Adha.

On these days, Muslims wish each other "Eid mubarak," the phrase featured in Islamic calligraphy on the stamp.

Eid mubarak translates literally as 'blessed festival' and can be paraphrased as 'May your religious holiday be blessed'.

Design
The Eid stamp was designed by Zakariya of Arlington in Virginia, who created it using traditional methods and instruments.

The script is known in Arabic as thuluth and in Turkish as sulus. Zakariya describes it as "the choice script for a complex composition due to its open proportions and sense of balance."
