Salaam all,

Now i am not a qabiilist person, i tend not to get involved in Somalia v Somaliland talks as it's just ignorant people throwing their opinions around...........but Oh my God have i had ENOUGH!

This is for ALL of the uneducated little kids and, surprisingly, adults that clearly no nothing about their own country because you seem to have this idea thatit was always Somalia.My advise: do some research!

1st question:
Why are most people acting like Somaliland is something that has just been made up?!?

FACT:

Up until 1960 there were British Somlailand and Italian Somalia. When they both got independence the unification of both countries was proclaimed, forming the UNITED REPUBLIC OF SOMALIA. In 1962, Somalia introduced a new currency, the Somali Shilling. NOTE: BEFORE 1960 they didn't share anything, not even stamps, Somaliland had their own British Somaliland stamps.

What did Somaliland get out of uniting with their "brothers"? Dirt thrown in their face, that's what. Being oppressed by your own people? That's exactly what Somalia did, tried to oppress Somaliland, Mugdisho was built with top universities, hospitals, schools etc. while it was forbidden for even 2 storey buildings to be built in Hargeisa let alone anything else! No one in North Somalia was aloud to prosper, any wealthy or educated people from north Somalia were assissinated.

So in 1994 North Somlia, rightly so, decided to go back to being Somaliland and not part of Somalia.

So where does this "there is no such thing as Somaliland, there is only Somali" stupidity come from? Ignorance, that's where! Somalia only existed for less than 40 years (from 1960 to 1988).

What's up with all this calaacal? Why must Somalis cry and hate when Somaliland is mentioned? It's ridiculous! Somalia is going through a crises and all they can think about is Somaliland and it's recognition? Seriously that's not right.

And to think they would even go as far as a protest against the recognition of Somaliland! "We want peace not war"? What has that got to do with Somaliland? Isn't it Ethiopia that is at war with Somalia? Where does Somaliland fit in? LOL. In fact there was a protest against the occupation of Ethiopia on Wednesday, why not spend your efforts there instead?

I wish Somalia all the best and pray to Allah that the injustice they are going through comes to and end and they prosper in akhirah as well as in the dunya. I wish Somaliland all the best and pray to Allah they gain the independence they deserve and they prosper in akhirah as well as in the dunya.

Here's a tip for the future: if you don't know the facts, bite your tongue, don't get yourself dambi by voicing spiteful opinions.

I am not getting involved but seeing ignorance and unnecessary hate all the time is not right and some people need to be educated.

If somaliland is recognised then its because they deserved to!!..... Jus by reading ppls reaction you can sense that their is hatred in them from both sides!...... and to make it worse none of the kids in here were born when the whole of somali was unified. Most were born during the war...so my question is.......

Whether somaliland get recognised or not...............i know for a fact that somalila and somaliland will never be one! due to the simple fact that somalia and somaliland where never one! The unification of both countries was the biggest mistake made and we are still paying for the mistake. Well done to Djbouti for refusing to be part of it!
