I just found out today from an old reer Cabdille Siyaad contact of mine why Maxamed Siyaad had one son (Cabdille) and Cigaal Siyaad is now the largest in Siyaads!

Advo, there was a war going on and out of Siyaad's sons, only Maxamed and Cigaal joined the war party. Waa la duulay. Maxamed rode a fast pony while Cigaal unfortunately received a slow and old pony. In the battle, the group was defeated and had to retreat. In the retreat, Maxamed looked back to see where his brother was and found him to be in the back and quickly being left behind. Maxamed made way back to his brother. Maxamed at this time was married and had already fathered a son, Cabdille, while young Cigaal was not married and did not have any prodigies to his name. Cigaal said "aboowe anigu magacayga wax wato ma dhalin" which Maxamed quickly translated as "brother, exchange your life for mine". Maxamed exchanged his pony for his brother and after a while was caught and killed. Cigaal made safely back where he fathered many sons and took the responsibility of raising his orphan nephew Cabdille Maxamed Siyaad. When Cigaal was dying he made a pact with his sons they would always support the offspring of Cabdille and their offspring and this is why it was largely because of reer Cigaal that Ilaawe Cabdille Maxamed become the military head of reer Siyaad and after that of Sade and why the traditional house of reer Siyaad was given to another branch of Cabdille Maxamed Siyaad called reer Ahmed Gulaan (Nuur Shareeco).

very touchy story man, I called my lil brotha and recited this same story to him word by word and he laughed and said, bro I would stop disbelieving that story b4 I do spiderman and ninja turtles, so you see voltage, not all of us are experts in maxamed siyaad heroic stories. I know for sure that Cigaal was the oldest of the Siyaad kids, and Yes we looked after maxamed Siyaads as he was our Special lil brother. Intaale kale Ilaahey baa Og.
