Why is my country the most pittiful in the world?

Post by Voltage »

Where 9 million nomads are divided into 6 tribes, 18 regions, dozen fiefdoms, and we have the highest infant mortality in the world, the highest illiteracy rate in the world, one of the worst economies in the world and a two story building somewhere in the desert is hailed as a success?

New York City in 1867 is ten times better looking than all of our infrastructure combined:

it'd be eased a lil bit if we still had a capital city open for all

Cause we put qabiil over qaran. We would rather stay in the same position now, and have our qabiil have a name and power, then be at peace, and powerless.

some people equate progress, advancement, civilization etc with better looking infrastructure. appearances can mislead. beneath the better looking awful inhuman, immoral n decadent things could have happened. you've to look n evaluate it from different angles and views. what was happening to millions of African Americans in 1867? how have the local native Indians fared in 1867?

Somalia is on the up and up, there is progress being made in puntland, somaliland, and even some parts of the south. We're still in the healing process from the civil war, it will take some time for us to trust each other again.

Paidmonk, sometimes the greatest sum well off is enough. Hate it or not but there is one thing that shows you are developed it is infrastructure. You see infrastructure is the outer garment you wear that describes everything, whether you are at peace, good investment coming in or you are blow dirt poor!

Fah, freshman so ma tihid? Bro go towards CEE (Civil and Environmental Engineering). Somalia will need you.

You are talking about Somalia, a good friend of mine came back from his country Eritrea this summer and when I said wow Eritrea looks nice I saw its pictures, he said "its all on the outside". What is a house with electricity, plumbing, running water, etc. And you are talking about Somalia that run generators for 20 mins per night in the hotels let alone other buildings.

There is no progress. To a cheetah, a snail moving one antenna before another snail is no progress at all!

Paidmonk kulaha...LOL!

First of all, I always use proper punctuation, unless I'm in "Crazy Waqoyi Girl" mode. I am not justice4basra.

I agree w/your statement though, Voltage, the reality of Somalia's current state is something so frightening that even your wildest nightmares cannot compare. And please, do not insult the people of 19th century New York. Ancient Rome was built over 2,000 years ago and it is 10x better in terms of infrastructure, society, and science than Somalia will ever be.

This is Rome 2,000 years ago.

It looks like Xamar on steroids; then again, the same people who built Rome have built Xamar, only difference is that skinnies never touched Rome. Even the barbarian invaders could not destroy all of Rome, it was too beautiful.

This is a good start for the skinny race, admission is the first step towards success.

FAH, I suk at math too, I got a D+ in two quarters in AP Calculus.

But I took physics and I did really well. It made me feel more confident about engineering, which is what I have applied for next Fall. Basic Calculus will get you through the toughest engineering tasks though, its easy stuff, all Somali guys are doing it now.

math and sciences have always been my weakest subjects, i did good in physics in high school but here at university that shyt is...my God

ironically, my pops got a degree in civil engineering but he never used it as a career, actually most of the older somalis who came to this country in the 70s and 80s...atleast in this area majored in engineering...some work for the govt or some firms or w/e now...
