The Prophet (saw) said when looking for a spouse: Look for four things Deen with character, beauty, status and wealth. He (saw) told us the way of the Christains is to look for beauty 1st, the way of the Pagan Arabs is to look for Status 1st and the way of the Jews is to look at ones wealth 1st...
RaulAllah (saw) said: take the one with deen thrice so that we may be succsesful.
And InshAllah the other characteristics after, because of course we are human and need a spouse that we are satisfied with to stop us falling into temptation. And some wealth to live on.

Also Nabi (saw) added: Marriage is half your deen, and if you can get married then you should and if not then you should fast. As fasting deminishes desires.

Also O brothers and sisters in Islam, remember to fear Allaah and remember that everything you do should be for the sake of Allaah.

Don't look for wordly things in your spouse because truely the one that posesses traits of the hearafter is more presious in the sight of Allaah.
