What is the reason behind cats hating water?

I thought those pictures were scary, especially the 2nd one. Maybe that's coz I'm scared of cats.

Not all cats hate water, it's only domestic cats who don't like having contact with water. Cats are actually natural swimmers, and big cats ( lions tigers & jaguars) actually love water. I think that's because of the hot climate they live in. Domestic cats usually don't live in hot climates, so there's no need for them to have contact with water, maybe that's why they reject it? Cats like to clean themselves, they're naturally clean animals. I think some humans are cruel, when they toss cats in the water, just to see how they react.

I have pics of my cat doing that, u try to clean this damn things and they turn into little monsters from outer space.

not all cats hate water, my cat used to jump in the bath if i forgot to close the bathroom door.
