A bomb ripped through a bus near the shrine of Imam Abbas in Karbala, killing two and wounding four others. The blast occurred when the bus stopped at a checkpoint near the shrine.
Fourteen Shi'ite gunmen were arrested after fighting south of the capital. The clashes broke out near Nassiriyah, 320km south of Baghdad, as Iraqi forces were conducting house-to-house searches for Shi'ite militants.
