Somalia: Puntland leader leaves Galkayo as protests rage for 2nd day

GALKAYO, Somalia July 10 (Garowe Online) - Hundreds of angry protestors took to the streets in Galkayo, central Somalia, for the second consecutive day Thursday, demanding that the Puntland regional government take a proactive role on security.
Protestors chanted anti-Puntland leader Gen. Adde Muse slogans, with one witness telling Garowe Online that the protestors were chanting "Down With Adde Muse, Long Live [Somali President] Abdullahi Yusuf."

Galkayo locals are angry over the assassination of a well-known businessman named Ali Jama Bihi, who was gunned down yesterday with sources attributing his killing to clan-related motives. [ Full story]
Human and commercial traffic came to a complete halt as protestors marched up and down Galkayo's main roads.
Gen. Muse reportedly left Galkayo after holding talks with clan elders and other influential persons this week about improving security.
The president was reported to have safely reached Garowe, the capital of Puntland.
