Lets share recipes for Ramadan.

Post by SummerRain »

Any special dishes you make or a member of your family that is special to you at the dinner table during Ramadan???????? Please share.

I'm so ready for this year's Ramdan and just purchased Rachel Ray's 30 minute meals book for some quick and delicious recipes. In my family we get tried of sambuus iyo buur after like the first week wallahi.

Timir cake with vanilla ice cream right before Tarawih. Yep, my younger brother threw up in the masjid's prayer hall one fateful Tarawih night and ran as fast as Usain Bolt, leaving the wadaads to clean up his vommit. Did not come back to the masjiid till 6 months later when another kid shitted himself during salat.

Same with our fam. But we just cook regular dinner after a while and whoever is hungry goes seconds or orders a pizza or something.

Siren, I think he means mishaari. If not, than it's prolly some fufu dish.

mishaari = porridge?

Salaam Ismahan123,

Ramadan Kareem btw. I don't tend to eat sambus iyo buur. It's only made the first week of Ramadan in my house markaas ka bacdi waan ka xiisona. Then, we just eat vegetables, porridge, timir. My favorite dish is this carrot and potato dish. Subhanallah. I can't express how delicious it is. I drink more than I eat during ramadan, oon leh ii qaban...which is odd. lol. My sister makes this horrible banana thing - most horrid thing I tasted.

Ismahan,

I once shared my especial suqaar recipe and I received some harsh criticism, so I promised myself no more, I hope you understand. :(

Advo,

I was hoping you would share your famous white rice and ketchup recipe. Great work on your buur though, sounds delicious.

Ka darag,
The table will be empty for me, if I cooked the samething everyday. . What does it consist of? :?

Starscrea,

 aww poor brother of your. What exactly is a timir cake? :?

FireFly,

Share the carrot and potatoe dish recipe. :D

Nabs,

What you talking about? I loved your suqaar. Do share sis. No one can dare to speak ill of your food in my thread. :x

Okay here is one of the dishes I enjoy making. Its baked lemon chicken with potatoes and carrotes. Its very simple.

You need to either cut a whole chicken or used drumsticks.
Put them in a oven pan. Add few tsp of olive oil ( like 4 tsp), about half a cup of fresh lemon juice, black pepper, salt, chopped clinatro, garlic, the chopped potatoes and carrotes. Let it set in the fridge for half hour then put in a pre heated oven at 450 for about an hours.
