Xamar is a city of 2 million, its a slightly more complex situation.

Think of Kismayo like Beledweyn. The Ethiopians will never find permanent fixture, but they will keep coming back, and quite easily.

I'm willing to bet that Ethiopia will have a new warlord governor in charge of Kismayo in a week, as easily as last time. This is the reality, even though I wish it wasn't.

This is a bit of a desperate move, to be honest. They can't afford to leave Kismayo in al-Shabab's hands because they keep unloading weapons and supplies from there, but they're already overstretched just holding onto Mogadishu and Baidoa.
