We have to ask our self's some good questions on this issue who benefits from Dir who uses it the most is it a political term. What's the historical background of Dir did Dir term exist in the 1969 government of Muhammad siyad bare .

Did it exist in the Somali civil war did it exist as a family term back then or was it something some individuals used to unite the dark, gab-teethed people of somaliland and koonfuur. If we look at the background of the term Dir it did not exist in the government of adan cade in 1960 not did it exist during siyaads days.

So who benefits from Dir when the relationship with Amharics (Ethiopian) is good Dir is not needed. Even in hard times the siyadis millatary government we did not see something Dir as a jabhad. So why did we see it in 1991? and its just a term some madoobe subclans use to for their own hidden agenda.
